I spent hours and hours yesterday at Toronto Island, one of my favourite places in the world. I kept meaning to take pictures all day but I was worried they wouldn’t look as amazing as it felt. Believe me that it was a gorgeous time with gorgeous people.
On the ferry on the way back, my three-year-old friend Nico was daydreaming out the window. I liked the look of her small contemplative face with the lake in the background, and I wanted to take her picture. I am embarrassed to say that I nearly did without asking her. I would for sure not have done that to an adult.
Anyway, I caught myself, and I did ask her. She said “You can take a picture of the water.” I said “With you in it?” She repeated: “You can take a picture of the water.”
So here’s the water! And here’s to Nico, who knows she’s allowed to say no.
